My aunt (Susie) once told me to soak beans in a small amount of baking soda/water overnight to decrease the “gas” they produce once eaten.

Sounded like a great hint so I soaked the beans, threw it all in a crock pot and went to work.

Came home and the house smelled horrible. The beans had burnt in the crock pot and were ruined. Auntie Susie forgot to tell me to rinse the beans and use fresh water before cooking them.

She also didn’t really mention the amount of baking soda to use. Guess I used too much! I’ve never tried this again.
