I learned the hard way not to….. GIVE SOMETHING AS A GIFT the first time you make it UNLESSS you taste it yourself!!!

LOL I will never forget it, I was newly married and even though I had the advantage on most new brides (my mother had taught me well in the kitchen) there were things I had never attempted to make on my own, such as homemade CHILI.

I remember we were having this thing at church called secret pals or something and my Aunt tarenna was mine,we were supposed to leave little things or notes for our gal pal’s that whole month and and at the end reveal ourselves when we all got together to eat at Shoney’s.

I knew my Aunt Tarenna LOVED CHILI, I thought how hard can it be.

I basically KNEW what was in it so I didn’t call mom or go by any recipe.

l just started making it like we do most of our family recipes, we go by instinct….. WELL….. I have a love for the spicy side….. and I would keep adding here and there and it smelllled so good….. I knew it was spicy but I didn’t realize HOW spicy ….. I was so proud.

I took that chili in a nice big ole locking lid bowl and put it on her pew… she was soooooo excited when she came in, saying how she couldn’t wait to eat her MYSTERY CHILI, and I couldn’t wait either for her rave reviews……. ONLY they weren’t so great of reviews, I heard her saying to mom, MAN I don’t know WHO made that CHili but they must have dumped a whole bottle of tobasco sauce in it….. I was mortified!!!!

I was then DREADING the day I had to reveal myself to her, as her secret pal, and after that I VOWED to make the BEST CHILI EVER MADE, and I have to say now days anyone who eats my chili has nothing but GOOD TO SAY… TRUE STORY lololololololololol.
