2 pounds large lima beans (dry)

2 cups brown sugar (packed)

1 ¾ cup King syrup

36 ounce bottle Ketchup

1 pound bacon 

 

In a large pot cook beans till tender (add salt to your liking) Drain beans and set aside. Cut bacon in pieces and fry until it’s done but not crispy. Drain on paper towels. Mix ketchup, syrup and brown sugar together till smooth and creamy. Add about ½ of the reserved bacon drippings to mixture, and then add beans and bacon. Place in a 6 quart baking dish and bake at 350 for one hour. If using a crock pot, cook on low for about 6 hours. 

* Optional (sautéed onions to bean mixture before baking.
