<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0648.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-341580 aligncenter" title="DSC_0648" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0648-e1368635081192-300x190.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="190" /></a></p>
<p><strong><em>(Ok so I know you are not supposed to serve two starches in the same meal.. so what,, that rule does not apply in my house! My boys love to dip their perogies in the Alfredo Sauce)</em></strong></p>
<p>First I started out with two chicken breast halves  I took off my skin and de boned</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0623.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-341583" title="DSC_0623" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0623-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0624.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-341584" title="DSC_0624" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0624-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0625.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-341585" title="DSC_0625" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0625-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Chicken then is cut into strips.. do not cut too thick or they will not get done inside and outside will burn when deep frying..</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0626.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341586 aligncenter" title="DSC_0626" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0626-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>Then in a paper bag I added 1 cup self rising flour, 1/2 tsp pepper, tsp garlic powder, tsp old bay seasoning or Soul seasoning,  about a tsp of parsley flakes,  and finally you add in some Italian Bread crumbs.. I just pour in what I need according to the amount of chicken I have.. today about 1/3 cup of Italian Bread Crumbs.</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0627.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341587 aligncenter" title="DSC_0627" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0627-e1368635237729-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>I whole egg beaten in a bowl with milk.</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0638.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341588 aligncenter" title="DSC_0638" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0638-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>Heavy bottom pot like old pressure cooker ect.. for deep frying with vegetable oil. (I dropped my perogies first into the clean oil)</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>dip chicken in y our egg wash and then put a little at a time into the paper bag.. fold down and shake then drop into the hot oil</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0635.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341591 aligncenter" title="DSC_0635" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0635-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0636.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341592 aligncenter" title="DSC_0636" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0636-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>Take out and continue till all is done.. putting the chicken on a slotted pan to drain or even a paper towel</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0642.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341593 aligncenter" title="DSC_0642" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0642-e1368635483987-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Once Drained put in serving dish</p>

<p>Make your alfredo sauce (My recipe is on this site, add more milk if your sauce is too thick)</p>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0644.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-341595 aligncenter" title="DSC_0644" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0644-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>

<h5>
<div>
<div id="id_51942dc816ce63390354148"><strong>Chicken and Rice</strong> (Aunt Thelma’s recipe)</p>
<p>1 whole chicken cut up</p>
<p>½ Cup oil</p>
<p>3 cloves garlic</p>
<p>1 tsp. oregano</p>
<p>1 tsp. parsley flakes</p>
<p>1 bay leaf</p>
<p>1/8 tsp. saffron</p>
<p>Salt &amp; Pepper to taste</p>
<p>1 tsp. basil</p>
<p>1 envelope of Goya seasoning</p>
<p>Put chicken in heated oil (use at least a 4 qt pan) and brown lightly. Do NOT overcook as it is going in the oven and will dry out. I used boneless chicken breasts, cut up, but I do think most chicken dishes taste better if it has bone in it. (Just my opinion but I think it gives it more taste). Add the remaining ingredients above to the chicken and stir.</p>
<p>Add:</p>
<p>1 onion, diced</p>
<p>¼ Cup green pepper</p>
<p>3 Cups long grain rice, washed until water coming off of it is clear. (I do mine in a colander w/small holes). Take your hand and move it around until it is no longer cloudy looking water coming off of it.</p>
<p>Add your 3 cups of rice and 3 cups of water to your pot. (I use about 3 ½ cups of water).</p>
<p>Add paprika but do not stir. Let it come to a low boil on top of the stove; then put it in a pre-heated 325 degree oven for 30 minutes.</p>
<p>This is a mildly seasoned dish so feel free to add more of the spices to your own liking. It also freezes well. My Aunt Thelma called this Spanish Chicken and Rice but when I think of Spanish rice, I think of one that has tomatoes in it.</p>
<p>Serve with fresh Italian or French bread and a salad.</p></div>

<p><span style="color: #800080;"><em>So I needed a cool fun project to do with my Sunday School Primary Class for Mother&#8217;s Day.. and I needed it to bee CHEAP yet Classy.. so I thought.. what can I do&#8230; I scoured the internet and I saw some fun things but I just didn&#8217;t find anything I wanted to do.. </em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em>I happened to be in the Thrift store one day when I saw some old metal picture frames. They had a lot of them and they were only 66 cents each. So here is what I done with them =) the kids enjoyed the project and so did the mommy&#8217;s (and my kids grandma&#8217;s =)</em></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #800080;"><em>I hope you enjoy this as well, Serena.</em></span></p>

<li>Just some picture fames.. I used old metal ones from thrift store 66 cents each</li>
</ul>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/frame-1.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-340780" title="frame 1" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/frame-1-168x300.jpg" alt="" width="168" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>Using your glass, trace around and cut out some pretty paper or card stock ( I used some old scrap book pages to cut out for mine)</li>
</ul>
<p><a href="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/frame-2.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-340781" title="frame 2" src="http://cookingwithserena.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/frame-2-168x300.jpg" alt="" width="168" height="300" /></a></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>Next you just cut out some green strips for stems, and 2 green leaves, per frame. Also cut out some flower petals (I used construction paper, free handing it)</li>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>All you need now is some  gift bags from the dollar store, and some glue sticks.  Have each frame cleaned and ready, and have all your petals  ready  for the kids to come in and arrange how they like, they really enjoy this part.  And have   yourself some tags that you printed on the computer  that say  I THANK JESUS FOR YOU MOMMY BECAUSE&#8230; and let the children fill it out and sign their name like so.</li>
</ul>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You end up with a beautiful framed keepsake you will cherish forever and your child really enjoyed and put effort into making THEMSELVES.</p>
