I found these remedies on the web for sore teeth and gums. Have used the salt and warm water and can say that it works, but I am not sure about the other cures.

1. Make a solution of warm water and salt. One part water and 1/2 part salt. It tastes real salty, but if you swish it in your mouth, it will stop tooth ache pain

NOTE: THIS IS ALSO GOOD TO RELIEVE SORE THROAT PAIN

2. A black tea bag folded and tucked on the tooth should provide relief for toothache pain.

3. Take a shot of Jack Daniels and hold it in your mouth in the affected area for about a minute, then spit it out (or drink it if you prefer). It should numb the area.

4. Clove oil works as a mild anesthetic for tooth pain. Apply some clove oil onto a cotton ball and press against the sore tooth or gum. It tastes terrible, but supposedly works.

5. Cut up a clove of garlic in to slices then grab a slice and leave it on the sore tooth. It will burn but after a while the pain will go away. Garlic is also a natural antibiotic.
