REFRIGERATOR YEAST ROLLS

1 pkg dry yeast

1/4 c warm water

1/4 c shortening

1/4 c sugar

1 egg slightly beaten

1 cup warm water

1 tsp salt

4 cups all purpose flour

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside.

Cream shortening: gradually add sugar. beating until light and fluffy.

Stir in egg, 1 cup warm water, and yeast mixture; beat until smooth. Stir in salt and flour to make a soft dough. Place dough in a well greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and chill for 24 hours.

Next day:

Lightly grease muffin pans. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls;

place 3 balls in each muffin cup.

Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts. for 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.

Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or till rolls are a golden brown.
