OLD FASHIONED PEANUT BRITTLE

Grease a cake or pie pan with butter. Spread in 1 cup peanuts and set aside. Mix together 1/2 c water and a heaping cup of light brown sugar, a little cream of tartar and a tablespoon of vinegar. Boil for 10 minutes, then add 2 Tbsp. butter and continue boiling until a little of the mixture dropped in cold water hardens like glass. Take from fire and pour over peanuts. When Cold, break in pieces.
