I promised I’d post this recipe, so while I had my recipe box out, I found it too.
Mayonnaise Cake
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
4 Tablespoons cocoa
2 Cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1 Cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup warm water
Bake @ 350 for 30 minutes in 2 8-9 inch cake pans
Sift dry ingredients, add remaining ingredients, mix thoroughly.
That’s all the directions the recipe has. It’s an old one too. I find that if I mix the cocoa well with the flour, it mixes better into the batter. With old recipes I usually mix all dry ingredients, then mix all wet ingredients, then mix them together. This cake is really moist and dark. I usually use a white fluffy frosting with it.
