Same recipe that is used for stack cakes,  it can be used to make shortbread cookies as well..

GRANDMA’S OLD FASHIONED SHORT BREAD RECIPE

1/2 c shortening

2 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 c sugar ( I add more)

1/2 tsp soda
1/3 c sorghum molasses

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c buttermilk

1 tsp ginger
1 beaten egg

1 tsp vanilla
3-1/2 c flour

Cream shortening, with molasses, add beaten egg. Mix all dry ingredients and add with milk. Beat to a stiff dough. Roll out to thick ness of pie dough. Cut Place shapes or rounds of dough on cookie sheet and bake 12 to 15 min
