GRAHAM CRACKER CAKE BOWL

first make your Graham Cracker Cakes

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup granulated sugar

3 eggs separated

1 cup milk

2 pkgs of graham crackers crushed fine (about 3 cups)

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Cream shortening and sugar together.

Beat yolks of eggs till light and add.

Add milk

Roll the crackers fine or do like I did and use a food processor or blender

mix baking powder in with cracker crumbs

Pour crumb mixture in  with egg mixture add salt.

Add beaten whites of eggs to your mixture only stirring  a few times just enough to fold in the egg whites.

spray two cake rounds

pour in your graham cracker cake batter and bake in oven at 375 about 20-25 minutes

NOTE: (If you were making just a graham cracker cake at this point you would put coolwhip or chocolate icing and coconut in the middle and top of cake and done.. but we are making a CAKE BOWL so you are far from done.. hahahha)

Next you will make a chocolate fudge icing then thin it out just a bit with milk

I don’t really measure just add confectionary sugar,  maybe 3-4 cups , and 3 tbsp of cocoa, add a stick of melted butter. Mix well then add a tsp of vanilla and a bit of milk to thin out… should be smooth and delicious.

set aside and now make your coconut egg custard

4 cups of milk and 1 stick butter in the pot

in separate bowl add 4 cups granulated sugar, 8 eggs, vanilla

take cornstarch (3 tbsp) and put in cup, add a little water and stir then pour into the egg and sugar bowl.

Mix with mixer till smooth then, once your milk and butter starts to come to a low boil you will pour in your egg mixture.

Stir continually and once thickens add in your coconut… (I had some leftover tinted  yellow coconut from a cake I added)

NOW assemble cake bowl

first take a nice clear pretty bowl

And take some cake and tear up and put into the bottom of bowl.

take half of your chocolate fudge icing and put on top  of cake.. add some slivered almonds

and pour over some coconut custard

Repeat (leave a very small amout  of cake so you can put some cake on top layer)

on top you will crumble some crumbs, cake, almonds, shaved chocolate and chips…

put in fridge and cover with plastic wrap till cold. Serve

NOTE: you will have a lot of custard left so you can use it to make pie or even make another cake bowl  with it..
