RECIPE AND PHOTO SUBMITTED BY Rina Castillo Trochman

Carmel pie super easy.
Make a graham cracker crust.
I use about 11/2 cups of crushed graham crackers and mix in a tablespoon of butter melted and 1/4 cup sugar.
Mix ingredients into a pie plate.
I use a glass cup to help pack in the mixture. I also put mine in the oven for about 5 minutes just to brown it. I let it cool.
I made it this time with oreo cookies and it worked fine.
The caramel is super easy part.
Get 2 cans of condensed milk and put them in a large pot.
Fill the pot with water covering the cans completely. Boil for 3 hours. Making sure you always checking to make sure the cans are covered with water. I add hot water to the pot if it needs it. After your cook time. Dump the water and let the cans cool for a about 1 hour. Then submerse in cold water for about 20 minutes. Open cans and pour into pie shell. Top with chocolate chips and put in the refrigerator over night. The next day top with cool whip and chocolate shavings or chips. Very good. I have a picture but it was a bit running because we could not wait to try it . You should let it set a good 12 hours before cutting it 🙂 Hope you enjoy.
By the way this Carmel is great on ice cream to top cakes with or mix with cream cheese and a little powdered sugar to make a great frosting.
