GINGERBREAD COOKIES TO CUT OUT

1 cup butter softened

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup dark corn syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cloves

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp white vinegar

5 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

red hot candies

In large saucepan combine the butter sugar corn syrup and spices. bring to a boil. stir constant

remove from heat and cool to lukewarm

stir in eggs and vinegar

combine the flour and baking soda

stir into sugar mixture to form soft dough

 

cover and refrigerate for a few hours so you can work with it

On lightly floured surface roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thickness

cut with floured gingerbread cutter place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. use red hots for eyes and buttons if desire and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes cool on wire racks.. you can decorate with royal icing if desire. or even let kids use sprinkles and candies (stick candies with icing)
