MONEY SAVER

LEFTOVER TURKEY POT PIE

when you make a turkey breast or chicken breast in your crock pot and you don’t eat all of it, please save money and freeze it in a gallon zip bag,

For my leftover pot pie starter I don’t just save my turkey.. I also save the rest of my dinner that is left if I have any…

I actually put my leftover peas, and mashed potatoes as well in the bag with the turkey breast and I labeled it Turkey Pot Pie so I would know what use I intended it for, get all the air out and put it in the freezer and in a week or two or three I pull her out and I have the beginnings of my pot pie… while my ziplock bag is defrosting( on the counter or in the microwave) I begin to mix up my homemade chicken gravy

add to a pot 1 stick of butter, 1 can of chicken broth (2 if your making a huge pot pie but for this one I am only adding one can of broth) bring to a rolling boil and have a slurry of  equal parts cornstarch and water mixed together in a cup ready to pour in as soon as the boil comes. Turn down the heat and stir as it thickens and turn off stove eye.

then open you a can of corn and drain and any other veggies you might have on hand to throw in.. mix all your leftover turkey and bits with your gravy and corn , stirring gently.

I sprayed my stoneware dish lightly and poured in my filling

then added pie dough to the top in thin strips alternating directions as I layered them.

bake in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes, the last bit of the time switch to broil so the top will brown nicely.

Enjoy your cheap and easy time saving meal.
