DEBBIE’S SOAP POWDER RECIPE

I have been using a different recipe for my soap powder… it is really AWESOME!!!! all ingredients are close together on the shelves at mcarthur wal mart.. big box borax,big box arm and hammer super washing soda, big 4lb box baking soda, 3 bars of the fels naptha laundry soap [grated in my food processor], 2 small containers of oxy clean or the sun brand of the oxy clean….. and I also add an entire container of the purex chrystals fabric softner spring waters scent is what I like… mix alltogether and store into airtight containers… only use 1 tablespoon of the powder to one load of clothes… I use a coffee scoop to measure mine with… now on super dirty laundry you can use more… but remember this does NOT suds up… but it cleans so well and smells awesome… I leave some out in a container in my bathroom and out on the sunporch for a room freshner… everyone always says what is that smell that smells so good! I also use it to clean with too.. love it to clean the bathtub… you can not beat this stuff… and saves me money too!

- Donna Keegan The packaging looks like something your mother might have purchased in the 60s or 70s.
- Debbie Fann Young wal mart has it here in WV.. or you can use a soap called pink zote if you can find it in your area…. they both are laundry soaps… even said you can use ivory soap too… thought about that kirks castile soap too I bet it would be good to use too…
- Cheryl MawMaw Sleeth I mixed the detergent ingredients up this evening.. .Debbie Fann Young is right…it smells SO GOOD!!! can’t wait to try it out!!! (found everything at Wally World EXCEPT the Borax…the shelf was empty!!! got it at Krogers)
- Cheryl MawMaw Sleeth ‎Debbie Fann Young….I made the soap powder over the weekend, and JUST hung up, outside, a load of blue jeans… they look clean, and smell so good!!!!!….I “tweaked” the “recipe” a little bit though..I always use a cap full of the Purex Crystals in each load, so how I tweaked it was, instead of using one bottle for the mixture, I used 2….:-)

I even put out a container on my sunporch and left it open as you come into the house and everyone asks what is that smell that smells so good?? put some in a coffee filter and stashed it in the bottom of a basket that I keep in the bathroom… smells awesome in the bathroom… I keep a small amount in a little jar in my bedroom on the dresser too… makes the whole house smell so good! 🙂

- June 4Cheryl MawMaw Sleeth mine is an HE Sherry Church Browning….I just put a cap full IN the washing machine….did 3 loads today……so far….everything ok….the powder all disolves!!
- Sherry Church Browning Did you use it in cold water? How much did the “recipe” make?
- Cheryl MawMaw Sleeth I used warm…and it made…well, I have buckets from Eat and Park, that they get their icing in…it made 2 of those, about 3/4 of the way full in each….I THINK their either 2 or 3 gallon buckets…lol…
- Sherry Church Browning Wow! I saw all the “ingredients” at Walmart on Saturday, but been kinda leery of trying it. My 4 year old gets kinda messy and I was wondering how well it works.
- Cheryl MawMaw Sleeth I did 3 loads today…1 of jeans…1 load of towels, and the 3rd load was t-shirts….and hung them all outside on the line to dry….looks as clean as the Gain I used, and smells wonderful!!!
