DATE PINWHEELS
2 1/4 cup chopped dates
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1 cup chopped nuts
cook until thick then cool
1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
3 eggs
1/2 tsp soda
mix well
chill
divide in two parts
roll 1/4 inch thick
fill and chill over night.
Cut in 1/4 thick slices
bake 10-12 minutes
makes 5 dozen. Bake 400 degrees
