CHOCOLATE TURTLE BARS

NOTE: Stick to the original recipe, don’t do what I did, I was lacking my main ingredient of pecans, thought I had them and didn’t but I still made it work, do not add the caramel bites I added, I found them to be too hard. But the bars were still good but would have been a LOT better if I had simply checked my ingredients before starting.. LOL .

heat oven to 350

mix 2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

will be crumbly..

spray 8×11 bar pan or 9×13 cake pan with bakers joy or butter it and dust with flour lightly

pat in your cookie mixture firmly and evenly in pan.

Then take 1 cup pecan halves or chopped pecans whichever, and spread over top crust. ( I was out totally of pecans today but I raided some along with the topping from a few pieces of my leftover sweet potato casserole LOL, when without, make do)

(I also  had some caramel bites  in the fridge I grabbed and I threw them on the crust as well)

Now in saucepan 1 stick butter and 3-4 tbsp butter in pot, then add 1/2 cup brown sugar

stir with wooden spoon over medium heat till cooks down at low boil.

Take mixture and pour over top of crust

Put in oven at 350 degrees for about 15-17 minutes or till done.

Remove from oven and put on wire rack.

Add 1 cup to a bag of chocolate chips.. (your choice how much chocolate you want on top)

Now add your chocolate chips over top , let stand a little bit  till slightly melted, gently you can use case knife to swirl  some of the chocolate chips and lastly add a few white chocolate chips randomly.. then just let sit

Let cool on wire rack  till chocolate sets up.. can take up to 2 hours.. I let mine set out then I put it in the freezer to help speed up a little.

take out and loosen edges all the way around and it should come RIGHT OUT lay flat on board and cut up into bars …

best to cut while a little chilled from freezer.

Now .. put on plate.. and once comes back to room temp they are very enjoyable.

ENJOY!!!! From my kitchen to yours =)
