Picture above is of my DIFFERENT flavors I have made… notice the color differences..

Everyone makes it their own way I have found.. no real recipe … some like to boil apples without peeling and use the sieve to catch peelings and seeds…. not me.. I tried it that way and I didn’t feel like it saved me any work.. I hated sifting through the hot sauce looking for seeds ect…  so here is how I make mine.. if you try it and don’t like this version their are tons more versions out there for you to try.. =)  don’t give up till you find the one you like.

FIRST I start out just like I do when I am making Canned applesauce…

Serena’s homemade applesauce*****Core and peel about 20 apples or more..(don’t really count I just fill up my stock pot) .  Dice them up and put into a pot. Add a small bit of water to the bottom and put on to boil. Stir and when water starts to go down then add a bit more (don’t ever add too much water but keep it in there so it don’t scorch and ruin your batch)  and boil till apples start to boil down. Then when apples are soft enough take potato masher and mash…

Add sugar, cinnamon, tab of butter

THEN I transfer my Apple sauce to my Crock Pot and let it cook… it will get thick and start to darken in color on it’s own… you can use oil of cinn at this point but I find that adding in some RED HOTS or HOT TAMALIE CANDIES.. come back and stir… it will have the nicest flavor ever… you don’t have to add the candies.. I don’t all the time.. I make SO MANY different flavors of Apple Butter… this is just my favorite…

ENJOY experimenting and finding YOUR favorite flavor. It is so fun.
