2 cups flour

3 tsp royal baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp sugar

3 tbsp shortening

2 eggs

1/3 cup milk

 

sift dry ingredients , add shortening, mix in lightly. Beat eggs add milk to eggs and add to mixture.. roll or pat out to one half inch thick on  floured board, Shape into three large rounds, cut each round at right angels into four parts making them three cornered. Brush with milk sprinkle with sugar bake at 400 F 25 minutes

for fruit scones add 1 cup raisins or currants before the liquid. makes 12 scones.
