Here is ANOTHER good bread pudding recipe..I am a lover of Bread pudding and I have MANY recipes.. here is one that I created by taking parts of certain recipes i liked and making a new version….. this one is more FIRM, not as mushy as most bread puddings.. good. ..

  • loaf of french bread (or hotdog buns whatever)  torn into medium to large pieces put on cookie sheet and sprinkle with granulated sugar and broil till barely toasted
  • take out and carefully place into a sprayed 9×13 dish, sprinkle brown sugar and scatter of raisins
  • Bring to a Rolling Boil three cups of milk and pour over your bread let soak while you mix your sugar and egg mixture.

Sugar & Egg Mixture

Mix up :

1 cup sugar

7-8 whole eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1 stick melted butter

3/4 of a regular box of raisins  (add some to the sugar mixture and  mix some with the bread)

sprinkle cinnamon over top and  pecans to your liking

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Bake until done.. 20 minutes. according to your oven really.keep watch on it

make your topping.. put topping on as SOON as it comes out of oven warm.

TOPPING:

1 Cup sugar

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup butter

1/2 tsp soda

2 tsp vanilla

add pecans and some of your raisins to topping..

boil 1 minute  and pour over warm bread pudding

Let COOL then pour over your rum sauce….

RUM SAUCE

brown sugar (palm full)

about 3 tbsp cornstartch

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 cup butter

Tbsp vanilla extract

Tsp Rum Extract

Chopped Pecans

In small pan combine sugar cornstarch and nutmeg. Stir in milk and butter cook over med heat till mixture thickens.  add pecans. Add vanilla rum and stir till thick take of heat don’t boil.. pour over pudding.
