Yeast rolls with beer:
start with opening a can of beer and let it sit on the counter till room temperature. once your beer is warm, in your mixing bowl add 2 capfuls of yeast from the jar- NOT fast acting or bread machine yeast- regular yeast.
I add 2 palmfuls of sugar
– and one cup very hot water from the tap
– i put these ingredients in my kitchen aid mixer.
very gently mix around, be careful not to hurt your little yeasty critters – be gentle!!
once it foams up – add the whole can of beer – it will foam.
mix slowly, add one stick (the whole stick) of melted butter – keep mixing, add a cup of half n half.
change your mixer beaters to the cork screw things. (dough beaters)
add 5 cups of flour, slowly add as much flour as you need so it just barely still sticks to the sides of the mixing bowl.
– turn off the mixer n let it sit, spray with butter flavored baking spray every 10-15 minutes. once it rises (abt an hour) grease a glass baking dish
(i use bakers joy with flour)
roll out the size of golf balls, spray with butter flavored spray.
keep your hands greased.
cover and let rise again for about an hour.
then bake 350 for 30 minutes.
now – u may need to adjust this – i don’t have a regular oven – it died 2 years ago – i use a big big toaster oven, the big silver one at walmart for $99…. a big (real) oven may be different.
makes several pans, i bake on saturdays and fill bread bags n freeze some dough –
if you freeze the dough – put ‘golf balls’ on wax paper covered cookie sheet- immediately put in the deep freezer – once solid – remove from wax paper put in a gallon sized ziploc bag – when you bake those at a later time – roll in butter – place on pan to bake – once risen (abt 2 hours) bake at 350 for 30 minutes. (not a ‘good’ thing to eat when on a diet!!!)
