1 cup soy sauce

5 Tbsp ketchup

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup cornstarch dissolved in 1/3 cups water

1 cup sake or dry sherry

3 tbsp apple juice

one pinch black pepper 

Combine all ingredients in saucepan. except cornstarch mixture. Cook 10 minutes on med heat. Gradually stir in cornstarch mixture till mixed well. continue cooking till thickened. Stir well before serving
