MUST HAVES FOR THE PANTRY

    This category is something I thought may be useful for new brides or folks who are just starting to get into cooking..

    Always keep fresh onions… fresh garlic…. Potatoes are a MUST! 

    OF COURSE the SALT AND PEPPER… 

    FLOUR

  • both regular and Self Rising keep in a tightly sealed container or in the refrigerator as to keep bugs out 

    OIL BOTH VEGETABLE, AND EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

  • SHORTENING
  •  

    YEAST

     

    MILK

  • Keep Evaporated milk on hand, it will be useful to you in so many ways.. for homemade gravy, or be it fudge or homemade mac and cheese the possibilities are endless with this staple that is why I panic if I don’t have at least 5 cans at all times in the pantry.. 

    CANNED GOODS

    If you keep whole tomatoes canned on hand you can use it for soups, stews.. ect… 

    Always keep Vanilla on hand 

    their are certain things you can buy that will keep for a LONG period of time

  • SPICES AND SEASONINGS

  • , start buying the ones you KNOW you will use the most Garlic powder, parsley flakes, chili powder, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg… then work your way up to the others 

    SUGAR BOTH KINDS

    Confectionary Sugar keeps well in fridge

    as does Brown sugar if it is in a zipped locked bag, when going to make a cake icing out of scratch these will come in handy…

    KEEP A CREAM CHEESE IN FREEZER

     

    Keep cans of Tomato Paste and Tomato Sauce on hand 

    dried beans 

    dried pasta 

    CORNSTARTCH keeps well in the refrigerator

     

    Keep in freezer a bag of GREEN PEPPERS cut up and sealed in Gallon Freezer bag for emergency recipes.. meatloaf, chili ect

  • and of course EVERYONE knows Eggs Bread and Milk… LOL but I thought I better right it down any ways,,,over a year ago ·

     

  • baking powder and baking soda you can keep in the fridge and use for a long time
