Brown Beans or as mom calls them SOUP BEANS

SOUP BEANS

I usually put my beans on before bed if you do this you might want to MAKE sure you put enough water in so they don’t scorch,,,, or just get up once through the night to check them… put them on LOW

1 32 oz bag use 3/4 of the bag

Wash and look your beans for rocks dirt ect… take beans and put into slow cooker cover with water.

Start out with 2 sticks of butter let cook for 4 or 5 hours

can add beef tips or ham I however like venison in mine the best.. cheaper for us and delicious….

we  always keep the less tender cuts of Venison and cut it into cubes and freeze them in ziplock baggies JUST for this… I take it strait out of the freezer without defrosting or anything and throw in with the beans, the long slow cooking process makes the meat so tender it melts in your mouth and gives just the right touch to the beans….. for us anyways… the next morning add 1-2 more sticks of butter for desired thickness a little salt as well for flavor.. VERY GOOD!

PS if you want thick beans the first day.. just add a tbsp of corn startch to a cup and add enough water to mix it and pour into beans.. will thicken beans

instantly

Beans are always good the next day too.. super rich and thick

.

(Side dishes include fried potatoes and onion, sweet cornbread, corn on the cob, fresh sliced red tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, sour kraut, fried green tomatoes, fried squash or zucchini, garden green onion.. )
