Don’t throw out your leftovers…. you can really save some money.. for example here is some meatballs I had leftover from dinner..

we put them in a ziplock and will freeze.. I can pop them out one day for lunch and make a quick meatball sub ect… saves money and time..

Some tips for freezing your foods

 

Only freeze fresh foods

Do not keep frozen foods too long

Never Re-Freeze

Keep a record of food stored (dates ect)

LABLE everything you freeze- it is amazing how things look different after they are frozen

Heat sealing increases protection

Freeze immediately after packing

Blanch all vegetables before freezing

Cool and drain immediately.

when freezing these pre made dinners. be sure and  use them quickly.. do not let a long period of time pass before you use them

Roasting Chickens or turkeys- they may be stuffed ready for oven up to 4 weeks. the Stuffing must be throughly cold before placing in cavity. Wrap giblets separately.

one of my favorite things to freeze is homemade chili.. I make a great big pot and we eat it for dinner and the leftovers if not shared with mom, after cooled, or next day are frozen in ziplock gallon freezer bags, and it is always just as tasty when thawed.


Apple Pie Filling is also a great one to freeze as well as can. I think Lasagna freezes awesome, as well as meatballs. You can fry extra meat balls one day when your having it for dinner anyway and freeze the extras without the sauce and make your sauce later and just drop in the meat balls frozen and let them simmer, they come out just as tender as freshly made.

Stuffings freeze well too.. make your favorite stuffing recipes and cool and package and freeze for later. Thaw Then when cooking grab and use to stuff chicken pork chops ect

Glazing with ICE is one method of protecting flavor of fish during freezer storage and protects from freezer burn. The way to do this is simple. Simply put your cleaned trout in a freezer bag and put cold tap water over the fish try and get all air of bag and seal. then freeze

For freezing eggs, separate the yolks from the whites. For whites pacakge and freeze.

For yolks add 2 tbsp sugar or 1 tsp of shalt to each pint. Blend carefully with rotary beater but avoid whipping in air. Skim off any air bubbles fro the surface before freezing to prevent crusting.
