MOTHER OAT’S OATMEAL COOKIE RECIPE 

1 c sifted flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp soda

1/2 c shortening

1 c brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup Mother’s Oats

1/2 c nutmeats

Sift together the flour salt and soda into a bowl

Add shortening, sugar egg and vanilla. Beat until smooth about 2 minutes. Fold in rolled oats and nut meats. Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/8 thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Bake ob greased baking sheet in moderate oven (350 degrees) 10-12 minutes. Makes three dozen cookies. Shortening must be room temperature.
