1 1/2 Cup flour

1 1/2 level teaspoon baking powder

1/3 teaspoon salt

2 Tablespoons shortening

Scant 3/4 Cup milk

Scraped maple sugar

Directions:

Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder, then cut in the shortening. When well mixed, add the milk, using enough to make a soft dough.

Roll dough out on a floured board, about one third inch thick, spread thickly with the scraped maple sugar, roll up like a jelly roll and cut into slices with a very sharp knife. Lay these on a greased baking pan and bake from twelve to 15 minutes.
