2 cups plain flour

1 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

3-5 tbsp shortening

3/4 cup buttermilk (these biscuits wont work right with 2%, nonfat, low-fat or any milk other than BUTTERMILK 

ok.. plunge your hands into this mixture and work it til it becomes dough. Let it rise a few minutes next roll it out to a little less than half inch in thickness. Get a drinking glass or biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on greased and lightly floured biscuit pan and bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Serve with butter and jam.. or gravy. 

For Cinnamon stickies.. use biscuit dough rolled out thin. Spread with softened butter Sprinkle on sugar brown or white or both. Add cinnamon. use a lot. Slice dough in long strips an inch or inch and a half wide. Roll up each strip in a pinwheel. Place on a greased sheet and bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes at 350 or until the aroma calls you in from the porch.
