How to Make Roses Out of Jolly Ranchers Candy

Melt Jolly Ranchers candies to create roses.

Create your own edible roses by melting hard candies such as Jolly Ranchers and molding or shaping them into a rose. This makes a single candy rose which you can use as a cake topper or to decorate a dessert tray. Creating roses out of Jolly Ranchers lets you choose any color for the flowers. Rather than the usual red rose, use any color you want to make custom, edible sugar roses for any occasion. Work as quickly as possible when making your roses as the melted candy will harden within minutes.

Easy

Instructions

  • 12 Jolly Ranchers, single color
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Cooking spray
  • 12 1 inch diameter round metal cookie cutters
    • 1

Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and unwrap 12 Jolly Ranchers, all of the same color.

    • 2

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray the insides of the 12 cookie cutters with cooking spray.

    • 3

Arrange the cookie cutters on the baking sheet and drop a single candy into each.

    • 4

Bake the candies inside the cookie cutters at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes or until melted.

    • 5

Let the candy cool on the sheet for one minute to become firm yet pliable. Decrease the oven temperature to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 6

Remove one of the cookie cutters and lift the round melted Jolly Rancher candy from the parchment paper.

    • 7

Return the baking sheet to the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the remaining candies warm and malleable.

    • 8

Roll the single round of candy into a cone shape.

    • 9

Pull out the baking sheet and remove three more candy circles. Leave the candies inside the cookie cutters for one to two minutes to harden if still liquid.

    • 10

Press these three disks to the wide base of the cone, evenly spaced in a circle. Frill out the tops of the candy circles to make petals.

    • 11
Use a picture of a real rose as a guide for shaping the petals.

Repeat creating layers of petals, using three candy circles as petals for the next layer and five for the outer-most layer.
