In lg bowl add 2 eggs,

2c. white sugar

,3 Tbls. soft butter.

Mix well.

Add 2 cups buttermilk.

Mix well. In med. bowl wisk 6 c. flour, 2tsp. b. soda, 2 tsp. b. powder, 2 1/2 tsp fresh grated nutmeg, and 1 tsp. ginger.

Add flour mixture to egg mixture. at this point , in large iron skillet, add Crisco,,,

You will use nearly a whole can, but not all at once.

The temp will need to be around 300. I put a doughnut hole in to test.On well floured countertop, or board take half the dough and work/ knead w/ flour till easy to handle.

Not too much flour as they will be tough. Roll to about almost 1/2 in thick.

You will see after one if fried if it is thick enough or not.

When you put the dough into the grease wait till it comes to the top and fries about five seconds en turn.

Keep turning to get a nice golden brown.

Drain an a few layers of paper towels. I

use white sugar and cinn to coat some and leave about 1/3 plain…for Bud. Have fun!!

Note -sugar while warm so sugar will stick well.
