Ingredients:

1 pound dried lentils

2 medium onions, chopped

1 celery stalk, diced

1 Tablespoon parsley, chopped

16 ounce can stewed tomatoes

2 beef bouillion cubes

6 Cups water

2 Cups Coca-Cola

1 Tablespoon salt

3/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (optional)

1 pound hot dogs, sliced into bite sized pieces

1 teaspoon oil

Directions:

Pick over lentils, then wash and drain.

Combine all ingredients together, except oil and hot dogs, in a 5 or 6 quart pan. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Heat oil in a large skillet and brown hot dog pieces. Add to soup and cook for 10 minutes longer.

Variations: If desired, you can use a ham bone in the cooking water to make a stock, but be sure to omit the bouillon cubes. If ham bone has a lot of ham on it, you should also omit hot dogs.
