OK… this was taken from our OLD recipe group and it had so many comments I thought I would post the comments too if you don’t mind … may be helpful to you other viewers out there

    • Serena Adkins Ellison Did it stain your hands?

    • Andrea Plumley Sullivan No it doesn’t stain and it stays softer longer then store bought Play Doh 馃檪 I made that batch around Christmas and Ian is sitting here beside me right now playing with it.

    • Andrea Plumley Sullivan Wanted to add… the actual color paste by itself does stain but not when it’s in the playdough.
You can also add color and fragrance to the recipe by adding a packet of Koolaid as well.

    • Serena Adkins Ellison Yeah we had made playdough before but I don’t think it ever came out quite that vivid and pretty, that’s why I was wondering if yours stained cause the color is absolutely GORGEOUS LOL!!! Never thought I’d be saying that about play dough but really, mine came out looking dull and quite ugly.

    • Peggy Foose Plumley Not only crafty, but quite thrifty, too! Using leftover cake color. That’s my baby!!!!

    • Andrea Plumley Sullivan I’m pretty sure you call me cheap behind my back but thanks mom 馃榾

    • Peggy Foose Plumley Thrifty, cheap? What’s the difference.
When that picture shows up full size, it’s kinda digusting looking.

    • Leslie Kendall Pease Has it gotten darker over time? When you use the paste colors, you have to be careful making flowers, etc., because it just gets darker & darker. So if you want pale flowers, easy on the paste!

    • Leslie Kendall Pease Hey, Peggy! It looks like the Blob from the old Steve McQueen movie! Watch out, Ian!

      February 27, 2010 at 8:21pm 路聽
    • Andrea Plumley Sullivan Leslie I haven’t really paid attention to whether it’s gotten darker. It was pretty dark to begin with.

    • Leslie Kendall Pease Your mom’s right, when it comes up full-screen it’s…interesting. If you haven’t seen it, you need to see the original The Blob movie. Shawn would get a kick out of it. (But don’t let Ian see it – he’ll never go near your playdough again!)

    • Cat S. Ginn

I know a woman who once made homeade playdough and it didn’t quite turn out, so she decided that since it was all homemade ingredients she’d just feed it to the chickens…. she found them the next morning… their little beaks all glued shut… ummm,,,, doing what chickens do best I guess… playin’ possum…

      poor chickens…

NOTE TO SELF: don’t feed play dough to chickens or any other animal or breathing thing! (you’d think that that was a no-brainer)…

    • Andrea Plumley Sullivan I’m surprised the chickens would eat it. It tastes like pure salt. I know because Ian stuck some in my mouth :-X

    • Leslie Kendall Pease too much salt will do you in, too…poor chickens!
