ANDREA’S GOOD SMELLING PLAYDOUGH
PHOTO SUBMITTED BY: Andrea Plumley Sullivan
Peppermint Playdough (the color is so dark because I used professional cake decorating color paste leftover from Ians Birthday Cake I made)
RECIPE SUBMITTED BY: Andrea Plumley Sullivan
4 Cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
4 Cups Water
4 TBSP Cooking Oil
1/2 Cup Cream of Tartar
Food Coloring (use your judgement on the amount)

Serena Adkins Ellison Did it stain your hands?February 27, 2010 at 5:54pm 路聽
-
Andrea Plumley Sullivan No it doesn’t stain and it stays softer longer then store bought Play Doh 馃檪 I made that batch around Christmas and Ian is sitting here beside me right now playing with it.February 27, 2010 at 5:56pm 路聽
-
Andrea Plumley Sullivan Wanted to add… the actual color paste by itself does stain but not when it’s in the playdough.
You can also add color and fragrance to the recipe by adding a packet of Koolaid as well.February 27, 2010 at 5:57pm 路聽 -
Serena Adkins Ellison Yeah we had made playdough before but I don’t think it ever came out quite that vivid and pretty, that’s why I was wondering if yours stained cause the color is absolutely GORGEOUS LOL!!! Never thought I’d be saying that about play dough but really, mine came out looking dull and quite ugly.February 27, 2010 at 6:17pm 路聽

Peggy Foose Plumley Not only crafty, but quite thrifty, too! Using leftover cake color. That’s my baby!!!!February 27, 2010 at 6:23pm 路聽
-
Andrea Plumley Sullivan I’m pretty sure you call me cheap behind my back but thanks mom 馃榾February 27, 2010 at 6:24pm 路聽

Peggy Foose Plumley Thrifty, cheap? What’s the difference.
When that picture shows up full size, it’s kinda digusting looking.February 27, 2010 at 6:25pm 路聽 -
Serena Adkins Ellison LOL… You should have saw mine….February 27, 2010 at 6:27pm 路聽

Dusty Huber Lembrich You are the second person that has posted homemade playdough today…funny.February 27, 2010 at 7:30pm 路聽

Andrea Plumley Sullivan That’s funny 馃檪 Must be a playdough kind of day.February 27, 2010 at 7:46pm 路聽

Leslie Kendall Pease Has it gotten darker over time? When you use the paste colors, you have to be careful making flowers, etc., because it just gets darker & darker. So if you want pale flowers, easy on the paste!February 27, 2010 at 8:20pm 路聽
-
Leslie Kendall Pease Hey, Peggy! It looks like the Blob from the old Steve McQueen movie! Watch out, Ian!February 27, 2010 at 8:21pm 路聽
-
Andrea Plumley Sullivan Leslie I haven’t really paid attention to whether it’s gotten darker. It was pretty dark to begin with.February 27, 2010 at 8:32pm 路聽
-
Leslie Kendall Pease Your mom’s right, when it comes up full-screen it’s…interesting. If you haven’t seen it, you need to see the original The Blob movie. Shawn would get a kick out of it. (But don’t let Ian see it – he’ll never go near your playdough again!)February 27, 2010 at 8:40pm 路聽

Cat S. GinnI know a woman who once made homeade playdough and it didn’t quite turn out, so she decided that since it was all homemade ingredients she’d just feed it to the chickens…. she found them the next morning… their little beaks all glued shut… ummm,,,, doing what chickens do best I guess… playin’ possum…
poor chickens…
NOTE TO SELF: don’t feed play dough to chickens or any other animal or breathing thing! (you’d think that that was a no-brainer)…
February 28, 2010 at 8:02am 路聽 -
Andrea Plumley Sullivan I’m surprised the chickens would eat it. It tastes like pure salt. I know because Ian stuck some in my mouth :-XFebruary 28, 2010 at 8:22am 路聽
-
Leslie Kendall Pease too much salt will do you in, too…poor chickens!February 28, 2010 at 8:39am 路聽
