Antique recipe

1 gallon of sliced cukes

1/2 cup salt

2 green peppers

8 small onions

slice very thin

Put ice cubes on top and soak for 3 hours

Drain off brine, rinse through sieve in clear water.. taste it

make syrup

4 c vinegar

5 cups sugar

2Tsp mustard seed

1 Tbsp celery

1 1/2 teasp tumeric powder

1 1/2 tsp ground clove

Pour syrup over the vegetables and bring to a boil for 5 minutes

Pack in hot jars and seal while hot
