BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE WITH CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

1/2 c butter

1/2 c shortening

2 c sugar

4 eggs

1/2 tsp baking soda

2 1/2 – 3 cups all purpose flour

1 c buttermilk

1/8 tsp salt

2 tsp sherry

1 tsp lemon extract

1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and shortening . add sugar and beat till light and fluffy.add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.

Dissolve soda in buttermilk, begining and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition.

Stir in flavorings. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 5 minutes or till wooden pick is inserted in center and comes out clean. Cool in pan 10-15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely, Spread top and sides with frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

combine 1/2 c softened butter, 1 8oz pkg softened cream cheese , 2 tsp vanilla and 1 lb powdered sugar

mix till smooth.
