1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup vegetable shortening

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

2 to 3 Tbsp Milk

(for chocolate buttercream frosting add 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa and 3/4 cup semi sweet choc chips melted in microwave or slowly on stove top)

Cream butter and shortening in large mixing bowl. Gradually add remaining ingredients. beat well at medium high speed with electric mixer until light and fluffy about 5 minutes.

 

makes enough frosting for two 9 inch cake layers or 1 9×13 cake

if have extra store frosting in fridge for up to 3 weeks..
