    • to make BACON CHEESE OR HERB BISCUITS you just follow the COUNTRY BISCUIT RECIPE BELOW ..but before stirring in liquid you mix in ONE of the following 

      1/3 c crumbled crispy fried bacon 

      1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese 

      1 1/4 ts[ caraway seed

      1/2 tsp crumbled leaf

      sage and 1/4 tsp dry mustard





  • Country Biscuits 

    2 cups All Purpose Flour

    3 tsp baking powder

    1 tsp salt

    1/4 cup shortening

    3/4 c milk 

    Heat oven to 450 

    Dry ingredients into bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture looks crumbly. Add milk all at once stirring up quickly and vigorously with fork until mixture forms a ball and no flour remains in bowl. DO NOT OVER MIX

    TUrn dough onto lightly floured cloth covered board

    Knead lightly 20-25 minutes. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick

    Cut with floured biscuit cutter or CAN..place on ungreased baking sheet

    bake about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

    makes about 12 

    for richer biscuits increase shortening to 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp and decrease milk to 2/3 cup
