Okay so this cake was totally a picture I had in my head. I wanted it to be just exactly like this and I was so happy it came out. I took inspiration from my mothers AWESOME Prune Cake.. (which you can find the recipe for on this site) As this cake has a buttermilk icing you pour over top just like you do the prune cake.. DELISH.. let it set up before cutting.. don’t rush it!!! SERENA’S APPLE MUSH CAKE


2 1/2 c. all purpose flour

1 tsp Allspice
1 tsp Cloves
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Soda

1 tsp Salt
2 c Sugar
1 c Oil
2 tsp Vanilla
3 Eggs
2 Cups Apple Pie Filling (I used my homemade frozen pie filling 2 cups )

Sift together dry ingredients. Blend oil eggs and vanilla. Gradually stir into flour mixture.. Add Apple pie filling

Mixture will be thick

spray a 9×13 pan with bakers joy or you can butter and flour it pour in your batter

I shake a mixture of cinn and sugar  over  top and a little brown sugar sprinkled..before baking

Bake at 325-350 about 50 minutes.. take out

and let sit while you make your buttermilk topping you will be pouring over top to soak  your cake in.

put into fridge until the topping “sets”

The cake may sink slightly but do not worry.. after it sets up it is delicious

Buttermilk Topping:

1 c sugar

1/2 c buttermilk

1/4 c butter

1/2 tsp b soda

a tiny DROP of rum flavoring

2 tsp vanilla Boil 1 min pour over cake

Put cake in fridge till the topping “sets” then take it out.

Done. (NOTE) this is one of those cakes that is better the longer it sets.. I don’t eat this one straight away.. it needs to sit a while)
