APPLE DAPPLE CAKE

3 cups flour

2 cups white sugar

1 1/2 cups oil or melted oleo

3 eggs

3 cups chopped apples, can heat the apples if wish ( I did not chop mine small, or  heat mine, I like mine in larger chunks)

1 1/2 cups nuts ( I used pecans)

1 tsp salt

3 tsp vanilla

1 tsp soda

Mix all ingredients, will be a thick batter

and bake in tube or bunt pan

for 1 hour and 15 min or according to your oven at 350 degrees.

Test with knife for doneness. If it gets brown before it is done cover top with foil.

take out and bang on wooden board hard to loosen before trying to take out.. it is a very easy cake to stick

 

Glaze:

1 stick butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup milk (heavy cream) can use more if needed

1 tsp vanilla

cook for 2 1/2 minutes at very low  heat. (I cooked mine longer until thick and added my milk later, and then the vanilla after it was thick then turned off heat)

pour over cake while both are hot. I prick cake with knife so glaze will soak in.and pour a little at a time till all is gone
