Almond Spritz Cookies

You need a cookie press for these cookies.

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup butter, room temperature

3/4 Cup granulated sugar

1/2 Cup shortening

1 large egg

2 1/4 Cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl with electric mixer, cream butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add almond extract.

Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then add to creamed mixture gradually. Press cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and sprinkle with colored sugar to decorate.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 7 to 8 minutes. Cool butter cookies on a wire rack.

 

Makes about 5 dozen almond spritz cookies.

Thanks for the Spits recipe! They turned out Great! I had adjusted the cook time only. New oven cooks fast then our other, so minutes and nice little golden brown bottoms!
