Mother In Law’s Beef Stew 

1 lb. Beef cubed, (or can use venison)

1/4 c. Flour

1/4 c. Shortening

4 c. Water

1 8 oz. Can HUNTS Tomato Sauce

1/4 c. chopped onion

1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt

1 Bay Leaf

2 tsp. Salt

1/4 tsp Pepper

6 Med Carrots, cut

6 Med Potatoes, quartered

3 Med Onions, Quartered

1/4 c. cold Water

1/4 c. Cornstarch (May not need, according to how your broth thickens) 

Coat beef in flour, in Dutch oven brown meat in hot oil add chopped onion. Add 4 cups of water, tomato sauce, garlic salt, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Add potatoes carrots and onions. cover and simmer for 1 hour.

Check and if broth is not thick enough add the cornstarch in a cup and add the water stir well , pour into stew. Cook till mixture thickens about 5 min. Remove bay leaf. Enjoy.
