I found this old book of handwritten recipes.. have tried a few already but hadn’t tried the banana cake one yet because I have so many other banana recipes.. but today I was inspired because my son brought home some maple donuts and I had some bananas that had to be used immediately so I thought hmmm a banana cake with maple icing would be just delish!! So here we are trying out this old recipe and pairing it with my maple cream icing,  Let me know on TRIED & TRUE RECIPES what you think of this recipe if you try it.

BANANA CAKE

1 1/ cup sugar

1/ c butter

2 eggs

1 cup bananas

Cream these items together

in a bowl sift 2 1/2 cups flour

add

1/2 Teaspoon baking powder

1/2 Teaspoon baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

mix with fork

add Dry mix alternately with 1/2 cup sour milk  and add in 1 teaspoon vanilla

add to two buttered cake rounds

bake at 350 for 25 minutes or done. Don’t overcook

let cool and ice between and on top with choice of icing.

Maple Icing

1 stick butter creamed

add in 3 cups of confectionary sugar

mix well and add in heaping tbsp of sour cream

add a touch of vanilla

add in 1/3 cup maple syrup

mix add in another 1/3 cup

this is the perfect thick icing but I want mine thin today

so I am adding another 1/3 cup.. but mix to your preference for what you want.
