Hand written antique recipe from my husbands grandmother.. this is how it is written exactly.

14 days

25 med cucumbers

2 tbsp allum

1 qt vinegar

2 qts sugar

3 sticks cinnamon

1 tsp full whole cloves

make salt brine strong enough to float egg. POur over cucumbers and let stand for 2 weeks. Rinse and cut cross ways. Put allum and enough water and let stand overnight . Take out of allum water and let dry off put in stove jar make syrup with  sugar vinegar and spices and bring to boil and pour over cucumbers

take out of syrup and heat for 4 days.
