So I had just made some homemade from scratch danishes yesterday and I had a lot of the very berry, and lemon cheese filling left over… I honestly didn’t feel like making anymore dough from scratch as it took ALL DAY .. five hours at least..  and I didn’t want to throw out the yummy filling. So I thought I would make an easy strudel with some of the filling and a pkg of store bought puff pastry. =)

Easy Double Decker Strudel

So just set out your puff pastry and let it thaw… roll it out lengthwise

cut your strips along sides with pizza cutter

take some filling and alternately drop down the middle of ONE of the pastries.

Tuck each end and start braiding up the dough.

Using a spatula or whatever you can on each end.. carefully move over to middle of the other pastry dough.

dot down the middle alternating with the fillings

Close ends and braid up snugly.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

using spatula on each end carefully move over onto sprayed cookie sheet

take one egg, milk, and some sugar beat in bowl

brush over top of strudel

Sprinkle granulated sugar over top

put in oven at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or till golden brown.

Take out let cool as filling will be very hot and liquidy..

Take some confectionary sugar, milk, a drop of vanilla and beat till smooth and randomly glaze the strudel

you want it to cool before cutting if you can.. hahhaa, we didn’t wait but should.. would have been better.. was still great.

Serve  =)
