Serves: 6

6 cups apples peeled, sliced tart cooking (such as Granny Smith)

 

1 frozen pie crust unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon ground

3/4 cup flour

1/3 cup butter or margarine, cut in pieces 

 

Preheat oven to 400°. 

Arrange apples in pastry shell. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup of the sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. 

In a small bowl, mix flour and remaining 1/2 cup sugar. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples. 

Bake 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Cool on a wire rack.
