This recipe makes a beautiful burger that withstand a nice char on the outside while remaining moist and juicy on the inside.

Ingredients

2-3 lbs medium ground beef

1 onion diced very fine

1 apple peeled/cored

1 slice white or whole wheat bread pulsed into crumbs(use processor)

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (parmigiano reggiano)

1 egg

3 tbsp. milk

salt and pepper

1 tsp oregano

Toppings: (optional)

smoked cheddar sliced (available at your deli)

thick sliced bacon, cooked until crispy

Place apple and milk in a food processor and puree.

Place ground meat and apple puree in a large bowl then add ALL ingredients and mix well by hand.

Be care full not to over mix as the burgers will be tough.

Grab a hand full and form a ball, then slowly form into burger patties. ( I dip my fingers in a bowl of vegetable oil each time to prevent meat from sticking to my hands)

I prefer to make a large (8oz) burger but you can make any size you like

The apple puree lends a slight sweetness to the meat and also keeps them super moist and tender inside, even if accidentally overcooked .

***Pre heat BBQ grill.***

Grill burgers until done Usually about 8 minutes per side or until slightly charred on the out side and the juices run clear. Do not press down on burgers when grilling, this causes them to dry out!

When burgers are cooked, place on a bun and top with cheese and bacon.
