Grandma used to make this every year for Christmas, I so looked forward to it. Mom used to do it too. I have never, cause the hubby really doesn’t care for it, but one of these times I just might

GRANDMA’S STEAMED SUET PUDDING FOR CHRISTMAS

2 1/2 cups flour

1 tsp soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 cup chopped suet or 2/3 cup butter

1 cup raisins or curants

1 cup milk

1 cup molasses

Butter Angel food cake pan , put soda cracker crumbs around the pan and bottom

steam for 3 hours

Be sure to keep pudding steaming till ready to serve.

I made it days ahead and just cut what I needed and reheated it

 

Sauce for pudding:

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

4 tbsp brandy

1/4 cup boiling water

white of one egg, beat to a foam

heat in sauce pan on low heat

stir to keep from burning

Can be re heated.
