This is a recipe we make OFTEN… a recipe that my husbands grandma gave me, and it is sooo good!!! Come to find out my mom had this same EXACT recipe also in her recipe collection.. so it is a very old recipe that has been around for some time..  TRIED AND TRUE!!!

YOu can make this in a bunt ban or a tube pan..I also add raisins to mine sometimes if I feel like it, or a glaze ..

anyway you slice it.. it is GOOOD!!!!! enjoy!

Grandma Dorsey’s Fresh Apple Cake

2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 Tsp Allspice
1 Tsp Cloves
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Soda
1 Tsp Salt
2 c Sugar
1 c Oil
2 Tsp Vanilla
2 Eggs (I used three)
3 cups Diced Apples ( I used bout 4)
1 c pecans (optional)

Sift together dry ingredients. Blend oil eggs and vanilla. Gradually stir into flour mixture.. Add Apples and nuts Mixture will be VERY stiff.

grease and dust with flour your pan… (I actually use BAKERS JOY it is easier and works great)

I shake a mixture of cinna and sugar heavily over before baking for a crust.. Bake 1 hour at 325

Fresh out of the oven

Paul’s Granny didn’t but I added a glaze to mine… you can make your glaze thin like the top photo or thick like this bottom photo

No glaze was made when mom or grandma Dorsey made this but I kinda like one

I usually do just a simple glaze. Make a simple glaze using confectionary sugar and some milk or heavy cream.

Another way is you can even make a glaze on the stovetop by melting 1 stick of butter, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/2 tsp baking soda  boil one minute and pour over cake while still in the pan fresh from oven. Let stand one hour and let cool completely
