Deydrated Cucumber Chips

So you have an abundance of cucumbers and you are tired of pickles and salads but still yet you want to find new uses of preserving your garden bounty?

Then make some Cucumber Chips. Let’s get started..  all we need is some cukes and a dehydrator (can be done in oven as well on rack)

Get your cucumbers sliced up first.. on the thinner side works nice, but I like a bite to it so mine are more on the medium side of thickness..  remember the thicker you slice them the longer you got to dehydrate them..

make SURE you lightly spray your racks with pam so your cucumbers don’t stick real bad.. (when spraying do it carefully, maybe over sink or something cause it will get everywhere on your floor table ect if you don’t)

Veasy to make.. you can do them plain or with spices of your choice..  Today I am doing only salt pepper and a pinch of basil . That way if I want to eat them as chips I can, or if I want to use them on salads or for my winter soups and stews they will be wonderful for that. ALSO your chips can be crushed down when dried if you like and bottled as a spice for salad dressings or homemade butters and even on hamburger patties as a spice.. but you do what you want with your chips.. the possibilities are all up to you.

Now the bigger cucumbers will make bigger chips,, the regular size cucumbers will look very small to you cause the deydration process takes out moisture and they shrink to a much smaller size.

I finish loading mine up and put on the lid

Set the setting to 135  and let it go till done about 8 hours ( I do mine at night before I go to bed and check them in the morning)

Now you can enjoy your Cucumber chips right away but if you plan on bagging them and putting them up for later you need to let them COOL COMPLETELY or they will rehydrate and be a mess in your bag!!!
