CRISPY CRUNCHY CORN DOGS

1 cup bisquick mix (or can use pancake mix)

1/2 cup corn meal

1 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup milk

4 tsp sugar

Veg oil for deep frying

Heavy bottomed pot (I use an old pressure cooker pot)

12 skewers

12 frankfurters (hot dogs)

Combine bisquick and cornmeal,

chili powder, salt

stir with fork

and add milk.

Add sugar

stir with fork till smooth

insert wooden skewers into franks

dip into batter and roll till covered

Remember you have to have enough oil so that you can get your hot dog in there

heat oil  to 375 degrees ( you can tell when it is ready if you flick a bead of water off your fingers onto the oil if it pops it is ready)

when ready to fry you make sure all excess batter is shook off before putting into hot oil..

fry 1 minute or so until browned and golden.. don’t overcook or undercook..

turn it, rotating slowly in the oil so all parts get done..

they will all look different.. but they are delicious..

can drain on paper towels.. have your holding station ready to go…  I use a slotted roasting pan to drain mine on..

serve warm with mustard and ketchup

=) kids LOVE EM.. so good too.
