Okay so this is one of those pies that actually TASTES BETTER than it looks… the chocolate, nuts, and dark Karo syrup makes for a very dark looking pie when your done.. it will LOOK burned but in fact it is NOT.. it is very delicious. IF you do not want such a dark look to it you can use the lite Karo Syrup for a more pleasing appearance.

MY FAMILY CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE

1 15 oz all ready traditional size pie crust

(can do a home made one but this time I just used store bought)

3 eggs beaten slightly

1 c karo light or dark syrup

1/2 c sugar

1/2 c semi sweet melted choc chips (I use milk choc)

1 tsp vanilla

2 tbsp margarine melted

1 1/2 c pecans (you can use chopped or whole but I am using half and half)

Medium bowl

stir eggs

corn syrup  lite or dark.. I used dark

sugar

melt chocolate and  margarine slightly stir with fork and add with vanilla to mix and blend well

stir in pecans pour into pie crust (I used half chopped and half whole)

Pour into unbaked shell

(Note: I like to shake a mixture of cinnamon and sugar on top of mine before baking  but it does make the pie LOOK darker which may be undesirable for some.. but the taste is all I care about. this pie TASTES better than it looks.. I also used the dark syrup but you can use the light colored syrup for a more pleasing “appearance” )

bake 350 50-60 min

Let set before cutting. (I refrigerate until time to cut to let it set up good)
