For when you have a craving for chocolate chip cookies but don’t have the time to really fool with it all..this recipe makes 2 9×13 inch nice thick bars or 3 15x10x1 inch pans of thinner bars.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE BARS

2 cups butter softened ( 4 sticks of butter)

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp water

4 1/2 cups all purpose flour (can use self rising just omit the salt and 1 tsp baking soda)

2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp salt

3 cups semi sweet or milk  chocolate chips (I used milk choc)

1/2 cup tiny pecan pieces (optional)

1-2 blocks chocolate bark  wait till end of recipe to use

1 cup confectionary sugar with a tiny bit of water to make glaze- wait till end of recipe to use

in large mixing bowl, cream butter add sugars cream till light and fluffy.

beat in the eggs vanilla and a tsp of water.

Combine the flour  baking soda and salt and add to the mix slowly

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.. do not over mix.

Press into your 2 sprayed 9×13 pans or into 3 15 x10 pans

Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes depending on your pans..or till golden brown

cool on wire racks.. leave alone..

when cool pop out of pans and cut into bars take your chocolate and melt very slowly and carefully in microwave, when starts to melt a little use fork and whip it smooth .. drizzle randomly over top of your bars.

Drizzle glaze over top of bars as well in random fashion… let it set up..

 

then pack into containers and take to picnic.
